Our StoryCore Values

In April of 2008 The Imagine Ministry began working as a 501 C3 in Raleigh NC.
The faith based organization was started as an opportunity to engage communities for the glory of God by adopting projects and helping people who were working to change lives for Jesus Christ.Shortly after forming The Imagine Ministry the founding director was called to serve in Nicaragua and a board and ministry strategy were establish and placed into action.By the end of 2008 there were plans to begin raising funds to support a youth outreach ministry in a small, rural community in Nicaragua. Under the leadership of Executive Director Coburn Murray, The Imagine Ministry began building relationships with the members of Los Brasiles, Nicaragua.  One year later, in 2009, The Imagine Ministry purchased the property where it was working, and began construction on a feeding center.

Throughout the first year of service in Nicaragua the Imagine Ministry managed projects with two staff member and in  2010 efforts were made to bring on full time teachers. The focus of the ministry has always been to transform lives by the Gospel. The Los Brasiles pilot project targets the physical needs of children in Nicaragua, however has continued to evolve and now includes the families of the children and the community as a whole.

The Imagine Ministry growth in Nicaragua has expanded to include short-term mission teams from Churches in America. These groups have been instrumental in bringing resources, providing ongoing financial support, and have had a huge impact on the lives of the Nicaraguans in our ministry. In the last three years The Imagine Ministry has helped lead more than 30 short-term mission teams. By facilitating summer mission trips with Churches, Imagine Ministry has solidified support for its projects and building initiatives, as well as been instrumental in creating a discipleship model through missions. In its third year of operating, Imagine Ministry’s Nicaragua Mission is currently serving the needs of some 80 children with a daily feeding program, Christian preschool and afterschool tutoring. Christian youth camps have also helped us to evangelize, and disciple the children of Los Brasiles.

Evangelizing

Many of the families have come to know the Lord as a result of the ministry to their children. The Los Brasiles property hosts’ community worship and outreach in order to meet its goal of communicating the Gospel to every member in the community. During the summer of 2011 The Imagine Ministry launched it’s first strategic discipleship training project called ‘The Ancient Path’. The project included 10 young men between the ages of 19-22 who committed 4 weeks in Nicaragua. The ‘Discipleship Through Mission’ theme engaged participants in an intensive discipleship ministry that focused on spiritual formation, faithful service, and intimate community. The result was an enormous milestone for The Imagine Ministry, yet also offered a great learning experience as leadership and resources were limited. The students participated in lectures provided via skype by US ministry leaders, and made visits to rural Church plants throughout Nicaragua.

Serving the Community

Between 2008 and 2011 The Imagine Ministry has provided more than $100,000.00 worth of resources to a very poor area of Nicaragua. The staff of 6 currently operates the Nicaragua Mission on a budget of $1300.00 each month. In 2011 TheImagine Ministry invited it’s first staff missionary to join the team and has begun training him to take over the administrative duties in Los Brasiles, Nicaragua so that leadership can begin looking into new ministry initiatives. Presently The Imagine Ministry is working to fortify the Nicaragua Mission organizationally and continue training leaders
for prolonged service to the Los Brasiles community through long-term mission projects that are supported by short-term mission teams. Other milestones include expanding physical infrastructure and construction, which started in 2011 and is expected to be completed in 2012. Presently the ministry is working towards achieving sustainability for Nicaragua mission efforts.
